When I close my eyes and think about what I love, I think of fields of flowers gently blowing in the breeze and beautiful smiles on happy faces. I’m so thankful that this isn’t just a dream but rather my reality. In 2006, I opened Modern Day Floral; a full-service event design studio specializing in wedding and event floral design.
Each and every day I’m fortunate to work with one of the most beautiful mediums in the world; fresh flowers. A medium that transcends all boundaries and speaks every language. A medium that evokes an array of emotion and touches people deeply.

Hi, my name is Barb aka..”the cake lady”, “sweet cheeks, ooops….sweet cakes” , “queen of cakes”, you name it! I do prefer Barb.
I started SC Design 5 years ago after completing the Bakery Pastry Arts program at our local culinary institute. My business was developed from a labor of love. The goal was to provide a quality, made from scratch product that not only tasted amazing but also looked fantastic. Where else can you meet with happy and excited clients who are ready to get married and start a new life together? Or, meeting with an event planner who is thrilled to pull together a fantastic celebration for their clients that will be remembered by all?
That’s what we have been doing at Sweet Cakes Design for the past 5 years! Providing personalized service to everyone who walks through our door. From creating cutting edge designs to fantastic cake flavors & fillings that will WOW guests. We are always up to the challenge! With a staff of five professionals including myself, three pastry chefs and two pastry assistants, we can create the cake of your dreams. Each one of us brings something different to the table to make sure we meet all of our clients needs.
